Sources of information (there are bizillions). Some good ones to track as meta-sources:

1. Conference Board , a good source for summaries on Economic Indicators can be found at: http://www.conference-board.org/ , you'll want to review the section on Economics under programs on the left menu.

2. National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) can be found at:

http://www.nber.org/

Select on new Economic Releases ; there is a lot of information here regarding various indicators used to track the industry. Take some time to wade through this information and with your team try to decide which indicators might be relevant to your position.

3. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) can be found at: http://www.bea.gov/ provides a wealth of information on the state of the U.S. Economy.

4. Bureau of Labor Statistics ( BLS ) can be found at: http://www.bls.gov/home.htm

Provides another view of current economic indicators, unemployment, inflation ( CPI ) and more!

5. Industry Classifications ; SIC and NAICS codes are used in many databases to group articles and data on industries and companies that are similar. Often, a company's industry outlook is important to determine the relative position of a company's performance within its industry. Information on stocks and company performance can be found all over the web. Most sources are interactive and provide a good deal of information on specific companies, industries and markets.
