What you need to do for this task

Task 1: Basic Employment Research-
What Skills are Marketable?

Your first task is to discover what job skills the
marketplace is seeking. In other words, what
jobs are in demand?

What job categories are expected to grow in
the future? What categories seem to be less
in demand?

Where are these jobs located? Are there
regional differences in the demand for certain
job skills?

What areas of the United States are growing?
What areas are in decline? Does population
matter?

What GLOBAL opportunities for jobs can you
uncover?

What is the employment/unemployment rate
for the nation? Why might this statistic be
important to you?

What you should have at completion

Deliverable 1: At completion of this task
you should be able to ...

1. Identify the top ten job skills and top ten jobs most in demand in the marketplace.

2. Analyze the differences in regional,
national and global job demand (i.e., where is employment high and where is it low--where might you need to move to get a job?), and

3. Evaluate the importance of the current employment environment as it relates to your
job selection and skills.

Keep this information accessible, you'll need
it for the final project.
