LEYDEN HOMECOMING IS HERE! 

Homecoming is full of great activities!

Ø  Today is the Staff football game at 5:45 at the West Campus followed by the Pep Rally at 7:15 in the West Field House. Come see who will be the 2008 Homecoming King and Queen!

Ø  Saturday, October 4 - Watch Leyden pounce the Proviso East Pirates at the varsity football game starting at 1:30 p.m.

Ø  Put on your dancing shoes for the Homecoming Dance, Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at the East Campus. 

Three cheers for Leyden Homecoming 2008!

 

Purchase your Homecoming Dance Tickets during lunch today.  The price is $13 for singles and $25 for couples.  If you are bringing a guest who is not a Leyden student you must get a guest form signed by the dean BEFORE you buy your tickets.  Guest forms are available in the Deans’ office or the Student Services office.

Attention all students and faculty: Mr. Cartwright and Mr. Conway’s Sports and Entertainment Marketing classes will be hosting the faculty football game today at West Leyden High School.  The game will start at 5:45 p.m.  Tickets cost $2.  All proceeds will go to charity.  If you have any questions please see

Banned Book Week - Did you like the Harry Potter books?  Always Running?  Go Ask Alice?  These are just some of the titles that frequently make the banned or challenged book lists.  Stop in the Nardini Library today to help us celebrate your Freedom to Read during Banned Books Week 2008 and to see if your favorite books made the list.  – Ms. Peterson (10/3)

Underclass yearbook pictures will be taken on Thursday and Friday, October 9 and 10 in the Little Theater during Gym, Health, and Drivers' Ed classes.  Ask your teacher for the exact date and time of your photo.  Students who do not have P.E., Health, or Dr. Ed, should have their picture taken before or after school.  Payment for photos is due on the day the pictures are taken.  Additional brochures are available in the bookstore.  -  Mr. Marten (10/10)

 

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES

 

French Club members going on the field trip Sunday to see Giselle should be at Entrance 4 by 12:15.  Make sure you have a ride home at 5:30.  Please dress nicely! - Madame Dunoon (10/3)

Marching Band Members: All students will report to the West Leyden Band Room at 5:30 p.m. today for the homecoming pep rally. All musicians must wear this year's band t-shirt for the pep rally performance.

Do you love to dance? Come try out for Orchesis, Leyden's performing dance group. Try-outs are Tuesday, October 7, Wednesday, October 8, and Thursday, October 9 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. in the East Dance Room. See Ms. Evans or Ms. Malinowski if you have any questions. (10/9)

COLLEGES AND SCHOLARSHIPS

 

Triton Scholars will be here on Tuesday, October 7 at 8:30 a.m.  Interested seniors should get a pass from their 1st period teacher and come to the Student Services office.Ms. Schulz (10/7)

 

The Prudential Spirit of the Community Award recognizes high school students who have engaged in at least one volunteer service project in the course of the last year.  If this sounds like you, check out the scholarship website or stop by the Student Services Office for instructions on how to apply.  You have the opportunity to win up to $6,000 and a trip to Washington D.C.!  Applications are due to Mrs. Gustafson by Friday, October 10. ATHLETICS

 

Open Gym Basketball will be held at East Leyden's South Gym on Tuesday's and Thursday's from 3:30 - 4:30 beginning now and running through October. – Coach Heisler
