      Hey Seniors! Looking for free money for college? Fill out the Common Local Scholarship Application available on the Leyden website. The application allows you to apply for over 30 local scholarships using one application that is available ONLY to Leyden students. The application closes at 10PM on Friday, February 17th. Talk to your counselor if you have any questions.

      "The last day for senior photos is Friday, February 10th, in the cafeteria at both campuses during the lunch periods.  
      You can retake your photos during this time as well.  To view your photos, go to hrimaging.com and log in (photos should be available in 7-10 business days).  For preorders, visit hrimaging.com and for late orders or any other questions, please call 815.433.1766.       Season Starts Monday February 13th

      Anyone that is interested in joining the boys gymnastics team and Please make sure to sign up online on the Leyden athletics page under the 8to18.  Make sure you have an updated physical on file.   If you have any questions, please see Coach Cordts.

      Are you hoping that your next progress report is better than the first one? Take ownership of your learning by making an appointment to work with a coach in the math and writing centers. Our rooms are in the library; stop by and see what we can do to help you. We are here to support you as you work on homework, study for tests, prepare for presentations and practice the skills that will make you successful at Leyden and beyond. 

       ATTENTION ALL BOYS AND GIRLS! Are you interested in swimming? Are you interested in being on a team? Come out to the Boys and Girls Water Polo meeting to see what this sport is all about! When? Thursday, February 2nd @ 3:10 pm Where? 250B. Bring yourself and any friends interested in the sport! SEASON BEGINS FEB. 27TH @ 3:30PM, EAST LEYDEN POOL.       “There will be open gym soccer for any girl not in a winter sport.  Open Gym will take place at both East and West in the fieldhouse.  Here are the OPEN GYM dates:

      East: January 31 and February 7

      West: February 14 and February 21

      Open gym will run from 3:30-4:30 in the fieldhouse.

      Friday, February 3rd
      February is Career and Technical Education Month and each day this month we will be highlighting a Senior that has excelled in their career Pathway.  Join us in congratulating Matt White!
      Matt White has taken several computer courses in Business Ed and has completed multiple certifications as a student in TSI.  Certifications include Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Net+ and CompTIA Net +.  Matt has been a great role model for other TSI students to pursue opportunities in the IT field.  Matt will be attending either Michigan State or University of Illinois to major in Computer Science.
       
      Monday, February 6th
      February is Career and Technical Education Month and each day this month we will be highlighting a Senior that has excelled in their career Pathway.  Join us in congratulating Chelsea Romozzi!
      Chelsea is one of the most organized students you will meet!  In class, she has proven to be a take-charge person who is able to successfully develop plans and implement them on a regular basis. She is one of the few students I know that can use critical thinking skills to solve a problem and come to a solution on her own. Chelsea also continues to teach lessons to her peers in Education Academy I by facilitating conversations like a professional teacher.
       
      Tuesday, February 7th
      February is Career and Technical Education Month and each day this month we will be highlighting a Senior that has excelled in their career Pathway.  Join us in congratulating Jimmy Dundovich!
      Jimmy is primarily involved in our Automotive pathway but has taken courses across a variety of them. He is also enrolled in a dual enrollment Triton course which will help him when he goes for Automotive Technology after high school.
       
      Wednesday, February 8th
      February is Career and Technical Education Month and each day this month we will be highlighting a Senior that has excelled in their career Pathway.  Join us in congratulating Mark Pineda!
      Mark Pineda has been a member of our TSI crew the last two years and has also worked at Leyden at a Summer Tech Intern.  Mark has certifications in CompTIA A+, CompTIA Net+ and CompTIA Security +, all of which position him for a great starting career in the IT field.  Mark is currently weighing his options for college to major in Computer Science.
       
      Thursday, February 9th
      February is Career and Technical Education Month and each day this month we will be highlighting a Senior that has excelled in their career Pathway.  Join us in congratulating Cynthia Rivera!
      Cynthia has taken several classes within FACS and has been thinking about being an educator or going into the medical field. Cynthia is a leader, she is very hardworking, and always puts 100% into everything that she does. Whatever choice Cynthia makes, we know that she will be extremely successful.
       
      Friday, February 10th
      February is Career and Technical Education Month and each day this month we will be highlighting a Senior that has excelled in their career Pathway.  Join us in congratulating Joseph Lopez Xique!
      Joseph has taken several Industrial Tech courses throughout his time at Leyden.  His main focus is Automotive.  He is looking to make this his career and continue on to either Triton or Lincoln Tech.  Joseph is a leader in our Auto Service class and can troubleshoot most repairs on his own.
       
      Any girls that are not currently involved in a winter sport and would like to join the track and field team may still join the team until February 10th. Winter sport athletes may still join the girls track and field team after their current winter season is over. Any questions, please contact Coach Dempsey.
       
       
      The next National SAT will be given on Saturday, March 11, 2023. If you would like to take this test, you must register at Collegeboard.org  
       
      The cost to take the SAT on March 11 is $60. Fee waivers are available for students who qualify. 
       
      The deadline to register for this test is February 10.
