Activity Description

  • The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.

Eligibility

  • Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors with an unweighted GPA of 3.30 or higher are encouraged to apply to NHS.

Meeting Times

  • NHS holds a general meeting on a monthly basis, but does not have a set day/date.

We also come together for numerous service projects and social events that are promoted via student announcements, email, and social media.

How Do I Join?

  • All prospective students interested in applying to National Honor Society should listen for announcements made early in 2nd semester. All eligible students are encouraged to apply for induction into National Honor Society. A list of all eligible Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors is posted in the 152 social studies area of school and an email is sent notifying students if they qualify (3.30 unweighted GPA).

Eligible students are required to complete an application highlighting the student achievements in the areas of service, leadership, and character. A committee reviews the applications. Students are notified of whether they are to be inducted into NHS by the middle of March. An induction ceremony is held to honor and recognize the new inductees.

During Freshman year we hold a meeting during ACCESS explaining the application process and advice for student applications. We also hold a meeting for all eligible Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors regarding the application process.
