This year we are adding a Spotlight School District to our symposium. The Spotlight District will have a few different presenters running multiple sessions throughtout the symposium.

Jennie Magiera, @MsMagiera, is the Chief Technology Officer for Des Plaines School District 62. A White House Champion for Change, Apple Distinguished Educator, Google for Education Certified Innovator and TEDx Speaker, Jennie works to redefine teaching and learning through innovative new practices. She also hopes to transform professional learning, serving on the Technical Working Group for the US Department of Education’s National Educational Technology Plan and co-founding PLAYDATE.

Ben Kovacs is an Innovation Advocate in the suburbs of Chicago. After working for ten years as a sixth grade teacher, he now studies digital transformation, flexible learning spaces, and design-based thinking. Cultivating student voice, choice, and advocacy fuels his work. Ben draws inspiration from colleagues and seeks to connect with thoughtful learners worldwide. Amanda Pelsor is an Innovation Advocate in the suburbs of Chicago and a Google Education Trainer. She works with teachers to improve instruction and effectively implement technology, with a focus is getting the best outcome for students. Amanda believes that connecting with others makes me a better educator which is why she is active on social media, volunteers, and attends and presents at conferences. Larissa Pahomov teaches students English and Journalism at Science Leadership Academy, a project-based, inquiry-driven high school located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is the author of "Authentic Learning in the Digital Age," a handbook for teachers that describes the learning model of her school and how to implement it in a classroom or school-wide level. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and has presented at NCTE, ISTE, ASCD, and the White House.
