What test prep resources are available?
The new SAT was first administered in March 2016. As a result, we have relatively limited resources with which to prepare our students. That being said, one of the reasons the College Board won the Illinois contract over ACT is the free test preparation resources they provide. For example,
- The College Board provides sample questions available on its website
- The “Daily Practice for the New SAT” app gives students a daily practice question in language arts or math, plus hints and solutions.
- The College Board has made six SAT practice tests available online. Students can take a practice test, and use the “Daily Practice” app to scan their answer sheets to receive an immediate practice SAT score. Leyden teachers plan to use parts of the practice tests in class, and as part of the SAT Prep class offered second semester.
- Through a College Board Account and a connected Khan Academy account, students can take online diagnostic tests, and receive customized practice problems and study schedules from Khan Academy.
