• Leyden High Schools created this page to bring the latest news and information about COVID-19 and the reopening of school for the new school year to the Leyden community.

On July 23, 2020, Leyden High School District 212 announced that its students will begin the 2020-21 school year with remote learning. The remote learning plan includes significant changes from the remote plan that was used at the end of the last school year. This plan enhances the student experience by allowing students to focus on fewer courses at a time and by increasing opportunities for student and teacher connections.

This decision was guided by information from the state, administrators, faculty, staff, parents, and students. At this time, this is what is best for Leyden students.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our world in many ways including the way we teach and learn. The fall 2020-21 school year will look different as the situation surrounding COVID-19 evolves and we receive further guidance from the ISBE and IDPH.

Due to the evolving situation situation, our goals to inform and update the school community include:

    1. Timely, frequent, and accurate information through the school year. This includes information about instruction, technology, safety and wellness standards.
    2. Updates on Illinois Department of Public Health, Illinois State Board of Education, and Center for Disease Control guidelines as they pertain to school programs and the 2020-21 school year.
