    Important Information from the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights 

    The Department of Justice has dropped its efforts to keep in place the public charge rule.  The public charge rule now reverts back to its previous (1998) version, which means immigrant families can seek most public benefits (including medical, nutrition, and housing assistance) without fear of being barred from getting status in the future.

    Información importante de la Coalición de Illinois para los derechos de inmigrantes y refugiados 

    El Departamento de Justicia ha abandonado sus esfuerzos para mantener la regla de carga pública. La regla de carga pública regresa a su versión anterior (1998), lo que significa que las familias inmigrantes pueden obtener la mayoría de los beneficios públicos a las que califican (incluida la asistencia médica, nutricional y de vivienda) sin temor a que se les impida obtener un estatus migratorio  en el futuro.
