Leyden High School is proud to announce the following five outstanding students who were selected to participate in the 2025 Illinois American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) All-State Show Choir: Jade Gil (East Leyden, Senior Soprano); Yurem Mesa (East Leyden, Senior Tenor); Sonya Morales (East Leyden, Senior Soprano – 2-year member); Nathan Pera (West Leyden, Senior Bass – 3-year member); and Emmanuel Rios (West Leyden, Senior Bass).

These talented students joined 45 other top show choir performers from across the state for a weekend of intensive singing and dancing rehearsals, which culminated in a high-energy performance on October 19.

“We are incredibly proud of our students for representing our school at such a high level,” said Stacy Cunningham, Leyden’s Choir Director. “This is a high honor for our Leyden students, especially because we do not compete in Show Choir.”

Additionally, Yurem Mesa and Sonya Morales performed solos, and Nathan Pera, whose selection this year makes him the first Leyden student to earn the honor for three consecutive years.

The ACDA All-State Show Choir is a highly selective ensemble that brings together the most skilled and passionate show choir performers in Illinois. Students are chosen through a rigorous audition process and have the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with some of the best in the field.
