The Illinois State Board of Education honored Leyden High School District 212 with the distinction of “commendable” on the Illinois Report Card for the 2024-25 school year. This honor represents gains for both East and West Leyden, and reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to student achievement and attendance efforts.

Illinois is required by federal accountability law to assign each school a descriptor of how well it is meeting the needs of its students. This designation is based on several factors regarding academic performance including: English, math, and science proficiency, graduation and attendance rates and English language learners’ progress.

“The progress and strength we see across our schools reflect the unwavering commitment of our students, staff, families, and community partners,” said Superintendent Dr. Nick Polyak. “We remain focused on educating, enriching, and empowering every student, while continuing to deliver the best possible high school experience for our communities.”
