The Leyden transition basketball team is advancing to the Special Olympics State Competition in March after an exciting 50–36 win over Naperville 203 on Saturday, January 17. The tournament began with a meaningful moment as team member Juan Lujan led the Special Olympics Athlete’s Oath, exemplifying leadership and spirit. Congratulations to Kareem Abdellatif, Alexander Jursek, William Landy, Dominic LaRocco, Juan Lujan, Alex Mercado, Jeffrey Pineda, Melina Prude, Emma Rivera, Anthony Rodriguez, Sammy Termine, Alyeda Urcino and coaches Joe DeGuilio and Marianna Lorenz for their teamwork, determination, and outstanding performance.
