Cosmetology, Barbering, and Nail Tech Programs

Are you interested in a career as a Hairstylist, Barber or Nail Technician? As part of Leyden's Cooperative Education Program, you can become a licensed Hairstylist, Barber, or Nail Tech!


We are excited to provide you with this unique opportunity to complete year one of this two-year program (One semester for Nail Tech) while in high school.  Leyden District 212 is committed to your success and will fund a large portion of the tuition fees associated with this program.  See below for financial information.

Erskine Reeves Barber Academy of Hillside, IL will give you the finest training to cultivate the entrepreneur barber in you. Get the barber knowledge you need from us. We can answer your questions about the styling processes, haircuts in general, the academy itself, and more. Forever Nail Academy - Located at  1737 North Harlem Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60707

At our school, our students are a top priority.  We will work around your personal schedule, so you can make your schedule. Theory classes there are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings. If you miss your theory, you can either wait for it to circle around or talk to one of the teachers and we will do a one-on-one theory class for you. You will learn from manicures to poly gel. A starter tote filled with supplies, a book, and a shirt included. Free parking, safe neighborhood.

How it Works

Students enroll in Cooperative Education (COOP 613 & COOP 623).  Cooperative Education is a formal course for entering the workforce.

Cooperative Education allows eligible Seniors to leave campus early to attend the Cosmetology, Barbering, or Nail Technician course.  The cosmetology and barbering program is a two-year program open only to seniors who enroll in the Cooperative Education Program (Co-op). The first year includes 750 hours of Cosmetology or Barbering instruction. The Nail Technician program is one semester long and includes 350 hours of instruction.

Cosmetology and Barbering Programs

Year One: Tuition $6,000, Kit $1,400 Year Two: Tuition $6,000

Students who earn a B or better for BOTH semesters only pay for the kit ($1,400)! If the student does not receive an A or B for BOTH semesters, the parent/guardian/students will be responsible to pay the full amount of the year one tuition and kit ($6,400). Payments are required by the due dates. FULL PAYMENT FOR YEAR ONE IS DUE PRIOR TO GRADUATION.

Students who earn a B or better in semesters only pay for the kit ($120)! If the student does not receive an A or B, the parent/guardian/students will be responsible for paying the full amount of the tuition and kit ($2,620). Payments are required by the due dates. FULL PAYMENT IS DUE PRIOR TO GRADUATION.
