Work Based Learning is a capstone course for students to “learn while you earn”. It combines supervised employment with a job-related class at Leyden High Schools in each student's select career pathway. The goal is to provide students with advanced skill sets that meet specific employer needs. Have you taken several IT classes at Leyden? We want you to work in the IT field? The Related Work Experience Program offers students a unique opportunity to gain valuable real-world work experience while earning high school credit. This program allows students to engage in either paid or volunteer positions at approved worksites, providing a platform for practical application of their skills and knowledge.
Students are eligible for 1 period of early dismissal. Our dedicated program coordinator will play a crucial role in guiding the students and their supervisors through the entire experience, ensuring a seamless transition from the classroom to the workplace. Students will be evaluated four times throughout the school year by their supervisor or manager on their performance on the job.
