Dance
Fine Arts Dance Club is an after-school activity open to any student interested in the performing arts. There is no commitment or cost to join but there are some activities that require registration and payment.
- Weekly meetings to learn different dance styles
- Create original choreographies in the dance style of your choice
- Perform at Leyden events
- Attend dance workshops
- Take classes from guest instructors
- Field trips to see professional dance company shows

2026 - 2027 Season Highlights
Leyden Homecoming Pep Rally (Friday Oct 2nd)
Create an original mash-up choreography as a troupe in the dance styles of your choice and perform at the homecoming pep rally.
Illinois High School Dance Festival (Saturday Oct 10th)
All day field trip filled with dance classes, performances, networking, and more. This event is geared towards IL high school dancers and IL high school dance educators & directors. Hosted at Lyons Township HS. Registration is $25
Giordano Choreography Project (Oct-Jan)
Take dance classes and learn an original choreography from a professional dancer from the Giordano Dance Company. Students must sign up in advance and commit to all sessions with the guest teacher and the showcase on Saturday January 16th.
Leyden Dances! Student Choreography Showcase (Saturday May 1st)
Open auditions for students to create their own choreography in a dance style of their choosing, to perform in our annual showcase at West Leyden. All styles are welcome - ballet, latin, cultural, lyrical, hip hop, kpop, tap, and more!

Artistic Director:
Ms. Lindsay Longstreth is a teacher at West Leyden, and has been dancing since high school. She has competed, performed, and taught vintage swing dance and vernacular jazz for over 20 years. She was also a member of her college modern dance troupe both as a performer and choreographer. She has directed Orchesis since 2021. LLongstreth@leyden212.org

Ms. Zeppetello has been teaching math at Leyden High School for 15 years. She assists the dance troupe with dance club meetings where dancers learn different styles of dance and about choreography!
