    Volunteer Opportunities

     Volunteers will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Once filled, the form and/or contacts will stop accepting responses.

    It is VERY important that if you sign up for an event you honor your commitment and SHOW UP!

    Schiller Park's Youth Basketball Program is looking for Volunteer Coaches

    (Participating in the Leyden League, Schiller Park Recreation, Franklin Park Park District, Norridge Park District, Leyden Township and Rosemont Park District)

    When:  January 9, 2022 -- March 18, 2022  weekly practices and game on Saturdays 

    Where:  Schiller Park Recreation Center & Leyden League Member agencies

    The children range from the age of 1st - 8th grade, divided into age groups:  1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8.  Based on your age, knowledge and experience with children, you could be partnered with other volunteer coaches or on your own.

  • Winter

    When: Saturday December 3, 2022

    Where: Schiller Park Community Center Parking Lot 

    Time: 3:00pm - 6:00pm  (Volunteer Hours 2:30pm-6:30pm)

    What: Schiller Park residents are invited to a festively decorated "Winter Wonderland" at the Community Center Parking Lot on Ruby Street to see Santa Claus and other seasonal characters from 3:00pm until 6:00pm. Volunteers will be involved with wearing character costumes that will be provided, assist with running the holiday theme games that will be provided, and line attendants  for the hay ride. 12 volunteers are needed. This is an Outdoor event, dress accordingly

  • Santa

    What:  We need volunteers to help serve and clean up the breakfast, help organize and control the crowd, and help with pictures with Santa.

  • Franklin Park Polar Express Events

     

    When:  Saturday, December 10, 2022  2:30pm - 4:45pm and/or

     Volunteer Hours:  1:00pm - 5:15pm

    Where: Franklin Park Metra Train Station,  (25th and Pacific Ave), Franklin Park, IL 60131 (Parking is free on Saturdays in the Metra parking Lot)

    What: The Franklin Park Park District needs approximately 6 volunteers to come be Santa's Helper for an afternoon.  Help with check-in.  Once we board the train help to pass out milk, cookies, and caroling programs,  help Santa to keep the event running smoothly.

    Interfaith Outreach Food Pantry & Clothing Closet

     

    When: Ongoing Saturdays

    Time: 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM (exceptions can be made)

    Where: 2825 Hawthorne St., Franklin Park (little blue house)

    Who/Contact: Lois Sullivan (708) 638-2320.  You MUST contact Ms. Sullivan to coordinate your volunteer hours after you sign up and BEFORE you show up for your volunteer hours

    Help out at the Interfaith Outreach food pantry and clothing closet.  Help in fulfilling guests’ shopping orders, bagging groceries, carrying items to cars, searching for specific clothing needs and various pantry/closet needs as they arise.  Guests are not currently allowed within the pantry house, so your help is needed more than ever to help ensure a smooth process.  Directly helping those in our community then helps earn you service hours.  A Win for everyone!  Thank you.
