Association of Horizon Summer Camp

Where: Timber Pointe Outdoor Center near Bloomington, IL
Contact: Karlyn Gehring - - firstname.lastname@example.org
What: This organization is a non-profit dedicated to breaking down boundaries between those with and without physical disabilities. At camp, volunteers ages 16+ are paired one-on-one with adult campers with physical disabilities for a week of recreation and learning from one another. Student volunteers develop responsibility and leadership. For me, the communication and community-building skills I developed at camp also helped prepare me for my first jobs and my direction as I entered college.
