Ms. Amy Stolarsky

In 2000, I joined the Leyden faculty as an English teacher and a synchronized swimming coach (I am quite sure they hired me because I was the only applicant who could coach water ballet).

I currently teach English I Honors and English IV Humanities. I use a "poem a day" and Poetry Out Loud to refine students' reading, listening, and speaking skills. Poetry helps us explore the art of our discipline. Together we recognize the same art, the same techniques in fiction and non-fiction and experiment with those techniques in our writing.

At home I play outside whenever possible and read a lot. As a family we root for Roger Federer --and Djokovic and Nadal when they're not playing against Federer.

I celebrate #leydenpride on Twitter. Find me @astolarsky. Leyden students make me laugh, challenge me, and impress me with their questions and willingness to work.
