Mr. Heisler

I graduated from Warsaw High School, located in West Central Illinois in 1997.  I then attended Western Illinois University, where I had the opportunity to play Division I basketball.  I was a four year letter winner and that opportunity gave me many incredible experiences and memories.  I earned my bachelors degree in Exercise Science from Western in 2002. Once my playing career ended,  I accepted a basketball coaching position at Elmhurst College.  After a short stint at Elmhurst, I went back to school and earned a masters degree from Northern Illinois University and became teacher certified in Physical Education and Driver Education.  I began my career as a Physical Education teacher and coach at Tinley Park High School. My next move brought me to Leyden and I have been teaching and coaching here since 2006.  I have been fortunate to be a traveling teacher every year I have been in the district. This has given me an appreciation and understanding of each campus, and afforded me the opportunity to meet many outstanding people.  As a Physical Education teacher at Leyden I have taught a variety of classes including Jr/Sr Individual Sports, Jr/Sr Team Sports, Wellness and Safety, Drivers Education, and Fresh/Soph Boys PE.  In addition to my teaching duties I am an Access Advisor for Freshmen, Head Boys Basketball Coach, Assistant Boys Volleyball Coach, the L Club Sponsor, and serve on the school Citizenship Team.  I am happy to be a part of the Leyden Family.

I am married to my lovely wife Jennifer and I have two wonderful, energetic sons.  In my spare time I love spending time with my family, running distance races, playing and watching sports, traveling, and trying new foods as I consider myself a foodie.
