Each winter, ten Freshmen/Sophomore students are selected and invited to join through an extensive survey process. New Peer Leaders attend a mandatory initial three day training session in a retreat setting during the summer. During this time, they receive accurate and relevant information and begin to learn how to utilize the Helping Skill most effectively when supporting friends. Just as important, they begin to form a cohesive group from what was a collection of very diverse individuals. Peer Leaders meet on a weekly basis for ongoing training and support. They provide individual peer counseling services during the school day on a wide range of student concerns: academics, stress management, peer and family relationships, and decision making to name a few. Once a Peer Leader, always a Peer Leader!
