Mr. Bill Mitchell
I have been a counselor at East Leyden High School since 2004.
I have been proud to previously serve as Student Council Sponsor, Fern Awards Sponsor, Teatro Leyden Director, IHSA Group Interpretation & IHSA Contest Play Director, Musical Director, Production Assistant, Leyden Players and International Thespian Society Sponsor, Assistant Chess Coach, Head and Assistant Speech Coach, and Leyden Representative for IFT Local 571.
Prior to coming to Leyden, I served a Teaching Assistantship in the School of Art at Northern Illinois University where I taught art history and foundations drawing. I have also been a counselor at Genoa-Kingston High School (2002-2004), a social studies and art teacher at Prairie Ridge High School (1997-2001), and a social studies teacher at Crystal Lake Central High School (1989-1997). I have coached boys and girls tennis, boys soccer, speech team, and I have sponsored yearbook and freshman class.
Outside of school, I spend my time restoring my 1903 Victorian house, gardening, traveling, and eating Portillo's hot dogs.
