Leyden boasts three extra-curricular jazz ensembles which serve many students of varying age, ability, and experience levels. Meeting seasonally after school, the Jazz Bands perform a wide variety of musical styles.  In addition to performing a feature Jazz Night concert in the spring, the Jazz Bands have been featured at the USO Big Band Show, Leyden Music Department concerts, and community events.  Regularly representing our school and community, Leyden's Studio Jazz Band has been selected to perform at the Illinois Music Education Conference (IMEC), was one of only 5 midwest high schools invited to perform in the 2020 Elmhurst College Collegiate Jazz Festival, was invited to the University of Illinois' Invitational Jazz Day, the Naperville Big Band Jazz Festival, and has received "Superior" ratings at the IHSA Organizational State Music Contest. 

Participation in jazz bands is open to all students as allowable for quality instrumentation/balance. See a director for more information.
