Golden Ticket - Exam Prep

Golden Ticket

In cooperation with the district’s foundation, Leyden High School District 212 offers a scholarship program to help graduates pursuing post-secondary opportunities offset the financial burden often associated with entrance exams.

“The mission of Leyden is to educate, enrich, and empower our students and communities,” said Superintendent Dr. Nick Polyak. “We know that when it comes to enrichment after high school, cost can be a barrier to pursuing those opportunities. Once you are an Eagle, you are an Eagle for life, and we want to provide support for a better future whenever it’s possible.”

This opportunity is open to any Leyden graduate under the age of 30 years old, who is preparing for an exam for a post-secondary application or career (Examples include the Nursing School Exam, MCAT, LSAT, GRE or the Illinois Electrician Licensing exam). The scholarship also covers associated costs such as preparatory courses, books and materials, or registration fees for a related conference within the discipline.

In return, recipients of this scholarship will be asked to mentor a current Leyden student who is interested in a similar post-secondary pathway. This mentorship may include one-on-one guidance and/or small group discussions or presentations. The expected mentorship time commitment is estimated between one and three hours total.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the school year and will be reviewed by a selection committee.

To Apply: Alumni Scholarship Application

Leyden's Foundation is funded by generous community donors. These funds will be used to provide a maximum of a $500 stipend, excluding college or university tuition/fees. This assistance is part of the established Golden Ticket program recently launched by the district to help attract Leyden alumni to return as teachers to their alma mater.
