Back to School 2021-22
We are excited to announce that students will be fully in-person, five days a week, for the 2021-22 school year. The first day of school for all students is Thursday, August 12, with freshmen and sophomore orientation occurring that day as well. As summer break begins, we wanted to share with you some information about the 2021-22 school year.
RETURN TO SCHOOL
Our full academic programming as well as co- and extra curricular activities will be offered in accordance with any additional state guidelines that may arise over the summer. As always, the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is our top priority, and we will continue to monitor the current pandemic situation and make any adjustments as needed.
- Students will attend full school days (7:30 a.m. - 2:40 p.m.);
- Students and staff will continue to be required to wear masks in our buildings as directed by state and county regulations;
- Unvaccinated students may still need to quarantine on a short-term basis in some cases when directed by the County Health Department.
We encourage those members of our Leyden families who are aged 12 years and older to attend the free COVID vaccination clinic hosted at West Leyden; no appointment necessary.
There is no requirement for students to receive the vaccine in order to attend school, however the more students who are vaccinated, the safer our school environment is for everyone. In addition, students who are vaccinated will not need to quarantine, and may continue attending school and participating in athletics, co-curricular activities, and extra-curricular activities as long as they are asymptomatic.
RESIDENCY AND REGISTRATION
All students must complete the registration process. In addition, families of incoming freshmen, and some selected families must complete the residency process prior to completing registration. We encourage families to complete these as soon as possible so that we can plan the best possible experience for our students. For more information, please visit our Residency and Registration webpage.
We plan to utilize our new daily schedule for the 2020-21 school year as planned. To our juniors and seniors, this will be a slight change from how you remember the school day structure prior to the pandemic. For our freshmen and sophomores, we are excited to welcome you to Leyden as full-time in-person students!
The school schedule features our Eagle Time period with our advisory and intervention programs which provide all students opportunities for connection, belonging, and various academic and social emotional support. All of these supports will be critical as we fully reopen our buildings for a hopefully more normal school year. To learn more about the schedule, please visit the Leyden website.
For our families who may have additional questions, we ask that you contact the assistant principals at 847-451-3025 (East Leyden) and 847-451-3121 (West Leyden).
We are so excited to welcome Leyden students back to school this fall. Until then, enjoy this opportunity to unwind, and have a happy and safe summer!
