- Fine Arts
Interested in joining the Leyden Marching Band? Registration is now open through June 1! The marching band includes woodwinds, brass, drumline, and color guard. If you played an instrument in middle school and have been thinking about getting back into music, this is a great opportunity to make new friends and be part of an exciting and energetic group. Students can register through MySchoolBucks or reach out to Mr. Walker for more information.

Spring Art Show! All art students will have work on display during the school day in the library Tues, Wed, and Thurs; April 27, 28, & 29. The artists' reception is Monday, April 27, 6-7:30pm. Join us for art, treats, awards, and more!

Juniors and Seniors - Prom tickets go on sale on Monday, April 27th - Friday, May 1st during all lunch periods in the student activities office. Cost is $70 per person. Prom will take place on Friday, May 15th at Allegra Banquets in Schiller Park. Guest forms can be picked up in the Dean's office and are due to the Deans by Thursday, April 30th.
Asian American Affinity Group will meet Wednesday, April 22nd in room D210 at 2:45pm. All are welcome to attend. Come learn about our upcoming events! Questions? Contact Mr. Leu sleu@leyden212.org
Announcement: Hey Leyden Eagles!
April is Autism Acceptance Month, and we’re celebrating by spreading awareness and support across our school community!
We’ll be selling lanyards, handmade bracelets, keychains, and stickers for just $1–$5—a small way to show big support.
When: April 20th–24th
Where: During your lunch period
Grab something you like, represent acceptance, and help us celebrate what makes everyone unique. Let’s show what Leyden is all about!
Join us Friday 4/24 in the mezzanine for our Spring Javaccino Event! All lunch periods, first come first served. Prices are $1–$4, cash only! Enjoy coffee drinks, sugar cookie skillets, brownies, puppy chow, and cinnamon rolls. Stop by early, see you there!
If you've read 2 or more Lincoln nominees this school year and talked to Dr. Caneva about them, you're invited to our Lincoln pizza party on Wednesday, April 22nd during your lunch period in the library. Please join us for our last theatre performance of the year, Teatro Leyden and Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors. La Comedia De Errores will be performed on the East Leyden Commons Courtyard April 23-25th in both Spanish and English. Bring a blanket and come join us on the lawn RAIN OR SHINE! No reserved seats. Lawn will open 30 minutes prior to the show. Don't miss this unique al fresco bilingual theatre experience!

The class of 2026 will be having their next board meeting on Thursday, April 23rd at 2:40 in room 165. See you there!
- Athletics
Leydenettes will be holding tryouts for the 26-27 season on April 28th - April 30th from 3:20 - 6pm in the West Dance studio. In order to tryout you need to be signed up on 8to18! Come in clothes you can dance in. If you are in 8th grade you can come after you get out of school!

Want to be a Leydenette? Dance clinics will be held on March 18th, April 7th, and April 23rd with an informational meeting on April 13th for those interested in trying out. Reach out to Coach Cieplinski for more information.

Do you love reading and sharing your excitement about reading with others? Then you'll fit right in with Book Club. We choose a common theme, select books about that theme, read them, talk about them, and sometimes swap them! Book Club meets every other Friday, on these dates: 01/09, 01/23, 02/06, 02/20, 03/06, 03/20, 04/10, 04/24, 05/08, and 05/15 in the library. See Sponsor Dr. Caneva for more details.

Makersquad Mondays
On Mondays, the Makerspace in the library will be open for extra time to students in the Makersquad club who enjoy 3D printing, sticker making, button making, robot driving, and working together. We meet after school in the library, every Monday. At minimum, you should try to make 2 meetings a month, but you are welcome to attend more than twice. See Dr. Caneva for details.
