Message from Superintendent Dr. Nick Polyak  

Dear Leyden community,

It is with pride that I have served as superintendent of Leyden High School District 212  since 2013. It is an honor to work with an exceptional team of faculty and staff, and a community that is dedicated to carrying out our mission. Our school community exhibits #leydenpride in everything we do, realizing that it is our goal to do what’s best for the kids. 

Between East Leyden and West Leyden, we have approximately 3,400 students that represent the diverse communities we serve. It is our goal to meet the needs of every student, to help them reach their full potential and fulfill their dreams. 

Our schools are comprehensive as we offer our students the tools they need to work toward the next phase of their lives. Our academic programs range from a variety of career pathways that lead to job-ready certifications, to Advanced Placement courses that allow students to earn college credit while in high school. We also have clubs, activities, and sports that encourage students to connect with their classmates and to engage with the school community. 

Leyden is an award-winning district that has a national reputation for innovation and instructional technology.  We have been recognized by the National Association of School Boards for equity programming, by US News and World Reports for ranking among the best high schools, and as a Top Workplace by the Chicago Tribune.  Whether in academics, fine arts, or athletics, our students excel, earn scholarships, and find success in their lives moving forward.

We have recently completed more than $80M in school renovations and projects at both campuses. These improvements enhance our academic programs, athletic opportunities, school environment and community pride.  These upgrades are designed to meet the needs of current students as well as the next generations of Leyden Eagles.
